Port Blair, Aug. 1: The Swaraj Dweep Police has successfully executed a series of coordinated raids, leading to the significant seizure of illegal timber and detention of two individuals.
In a meticulously planned operation led by Inspector K. Abdul Nasir, SHO, PS Swaraj Dweep along with Police team SI Pankaj Pandey, Head Constables Patrick, Nishal Ruben Ekka, Constables Vikash Kr. Pandey, Suraj Kumar, A.P. Mohammed Asif, Abdul Basheer, Prashant Deep Dung Dung, G. Devraju, Naw Grisly and Taposh Mistry conducted a raid in the premises of Parimal Mondal, a Civil Contractor R/o Vijay Nagar and recovered 113 pieces of hand-sawn hardwood timber. The timber was seized on the spot and Parimal Mondal was detained and brought to PS Swaraj Dweep.
In a separate operation, the above Police team searched in the premises of Vimsen Baa, Private Worker R/o Shyam Nagar and recovered 11 pieces of hand-sawn illegal hardwood. Vimsen Baa was also detained and brought to PS Swaraj Dweep.
The total volume of the confiscated hardwood timber amounts to approximately 2 cubic meters. The seized timber along with detained persons were handed over to Forest Officials for further necessary action. The successful execution of these raids underscores the commitment of the South Andaman District police to combat illegal activities and uphold the law.
