Foreign Poacher Along with Engine Dinghy Apprehended by North & Middle Andaman Police

Kalighat, Aug 1: On 01/08/2024, information about the sighting of foreign poachers in the coastal area of the N&MA district was received. Upon receipt of the information, an anti-poaching team headed by ASI Muchray Munda, along with HC Ashok Samaddar, PCs Manikandan, Sushil Sarkar, Vijay Kumar, Gaurav Hawladar, and Shoaib Ali of PS Kalighat, was immediately constituted. The team quickly gathered information from the local fisherman and prepared a plan, and carried out anti-poaching operation in the suspected areas.

The anti-poaching team actively searched for foreign poachers in the coastal and creek area of North Reef, where it was suspected that poachers were hiding. The team further commenced combing operations in the entire coastal region.

During the combing operation, the team discovered a foreign poacher hidden in the Loha Tikry creek along with an engine dinghy. The team surprised the poacher and signalled for him to surrender. However, the poacher ignored the police orders and attempted to flee into the jungle. The team swiftly chased after him and successfully apprehended him.

The apprehended poacher was brought to PS Kalighat and will be handed over to PS CCS for further investigation. The anti-poaching team continues its search operation for more poachers. This successful operation demonstrates the dedication and effectiveness of the anti-poaching team in protecting wildlife and combating illegal poaching activities. The exemplary bravery shown by the anti-poaching team has been lauded, and they will be suitably rewarded.

The entire operation was carried out under the direction of Sh. Brij Mohan Meena DANIPS, SDPO Diglipur and the vigilant supervision of Ms. Geetanjali Khandelwal, IPS, SP (D) N&MA.

The general public and fisherman who are venturing in sea are requested to pass and share any credible information pertaining to sighting of foreign boats/nationals to their nearest Police Station or over phone No.100, 112 & 03192-273344. Their identity will be kept secretly and they will be suitability rewarded for their brave act.
