Port Blair, Aug 4: ‘Vidyut Jan Sunwai’ was organized by Electricity Department yesterday in Panchayat Hall, Manglutan, under the chairmanship of Director (Power), A&N Administration, Dr. Prashant Kumar, to reach out to the consumer’s and provide a platform to address their power related issue.
Addressing the gathering, the Director (Power), affirmed that A&N Administration & Electricity Department are duty bound to provide best services to the consumers of these Islands. All possible measures are being explored and the team is working tirelessly to create infrastructures for providing uninterrupted power supply throughout the Islands. Assessments are being done regularly to identify the problematic zones for their prudent solutions, he informed.
Major highlights of the event included an interactive session where participants expressed their grievances which were responded by the Director (Power) and senior officials from Electricity Department. Suggestion and demands raised by Public Representatives and general public were noted down and assurance was given for prompt redressal.
A demonstration of Consumer Complaint Handling Mechanism (CCHM), was organized to sensitize the consumers with the process flow of CCHM. The consumers were requested to utilize the CCHM system for redressal of their grievances more effectively, through the Toll Free No 1800-345-1111. The gathering was also urged to avail the benefits of various Solar Roof Top schemes including PM Surya Ghar Yojana.
The Director (Power) assured the general public that A&N Administration is committed towards timely redressal of their grievances and pro-active measures shall be taken by the officers and staff of Electricity Department to effectively address all the issues raised by the consumers and general public during the Jan Sunwai.
The event concluded with the vote of thanks delivered by Shri Prakash Adhikari, Zilla Parishad member, who applauded the efforts of the Electricity Department, A & N Administration, for conducting the first Jan Sunwai programme in their Panchayat, thereby providing a platform for the consumers of Electricity Department to express their concerns/grievances for more effective and early redressal. He also appreciated the works done by the Department in local area and desired that remaining issues will also be addressed by the Department in larger public interest. There was a request to conduct follow up programmes also.
The Superintending Engineer & Executive Engineer, South Andaman, Pradhans & Samiti Members of Guptapara, Humfrygunj & Wandoor Panchayats, PRI members and local residents were present in large numbers.
