Port Blair, Aug 5: The District Administration, South Andaman in its continuous efforts to preserve community spaces and to ensure lawful use of public property has been keeping strict vigil and monitoring and government land is being restored back from encroachment by unscrupulous elements in past few days in South Andaman District.
The Revenue officials of Ferrargunj Tehsil evicted encroachments over proposed land for Construction of Check Weir Dam at Dhanikari village reclaiming an area 0.2000 Hects. out of 1.00 Hects. which has been restored by cutting/felling of arecanut trees of approx 200 nos.
Further, a case was registered under the PP (Eviction) Act 1972 against Shri EM Khalid who had unauthorizedly occupied 0.0110 hectares of land situated at Malapuram village allotted in favour of Education department. After demarcation, the possession was restored back to Education department, in the presence of Pradhan, Manarghat. The possession was taken over by the Headmaster GPS Manarghat.
The Deputy Commissioner, South Andaman cautioned the General Public to refrain from encroaching on Government land and that the District Administration has zero tolerance towards encroachment on government land and it shall uphold the interest of law against encroachers and serious action shall be fixed upon those supporting the encroachers.
