A&N Police Organises Ceremony to Distribute Traffic Warden Kits to School Principals and Teachers
Port Blair, Aug 5: A ceremony was held in Police Headquarters, Atlanta Point today to distribute Traffic Warden Kits to school principals and teachers, emphasizing the crucial role of Traffic Wardens in ensuring student safety. The ceremony was attended by Principals, Vice - Principals and teachers of the participating schools.
Ms. Niharika Bhatt, IPS, briefed the participants on the roles and responsibilities of Traffic Wardens, underlining that their primary focus should be the safety of students while crossing roads or using designated crosswalks. She highlighted that Traffic Wardens would guide and assist children in safely navigating busy streets and promote pedestrian safety awareness alongside Traffic Personnel.
The principals of Khalsa Public School, GSSS BathuBasthi, and GSSS Prothrapur expressed their gratitude and appreciation towards the A & N Traffic Police for their initiative.
DGP A & N Islands, Shri. Devesh Chandra Srivastava, IPS, addressed the participants, congratulating the Traffic Police for introducing the Traffic Warden Scheme in the A & N Islands, similar to its implementation across India. He emphasized the importance of public-police participation in regulating traffic and the vital role teachers play in fostering a sense of responsibility towards road safety among students. He underscored the motto "Catch them Young" to nurture law-abiding citizens from an early age. Additionally, he highlighted the importance of the three E’s in road safety—Education, Engineering, and Enforcement. He also urged teachers to be aware of the activities of their students, especially in respect of Drug related issues.
The event culminated with the distribution of Traffic Warden Kits to the school principals by DGP Shri. Devesh Chandra Srivastva, IPS. The kit comprised of a reflective blue coloured jacket, cap, whistle and glow sign board. The meeting concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by Shri. Ajay Kr. Rai, DANIPS, Dy.SP (Traffic).
General public is encouraged to report traffic violations such as such as riding without helmet Using mobile phone while driving, use of multi tone horn, excess smoke emission, illegal/obstructive parking, retrofitted/modified silencers, rash & negligent driving & triple riding etc. by sending clear photograph/short videos of violation containing clear registration no. of vehicle with date, time and place of offence on the official Whatsapp No. 9531892228 or to inform on the Traffic Control Room Number 03192-243812 for prompt action against the violators.
