Port Blair, Aug 6: The District Administration, South Andaman in its continuous efforts to preserve community spaces and to ensure lawful use of public property has been keeping strict vigil and monitoring and government land is being restored back from encroachment by unscrupulous elements in past few days in South Andaman District.
Eviction drive at Dhanikhari village continued on its second day at the site of water supply scheme. Arecanut trees standing on the encroached area were chopped down manually as well as with the help of Power Chain Saw. The encroachment was made by one Shri Jeevan Lall upon Govt revenue land in the shape of arecanuts and coconut trees etc at Dhanikhari village which is reserved for water supply scheme and an area of altogether 4000 Sq. Mtrs restored to its normal status and brought to Govt khata.
The Deputy Commissioner, South Andaman cautioned the General Public to refrain from encroaching on Government land and that the District Administration has zero tolerance towards encroachment on government land and it shall uphold the interest of law against encroachers and serious action shall be fixed upon those supporting the encroachers.
