Port Blair, Sept. 4: The 27th Death Anniversary of Comrade N. Vasudevan, former President of CITU State Committee and Non-Gazetted Govt. Officers’ Association and former Counsellor in the erstwhile Pradesh Council was observed today (4th Sept 2024). A meeting was held at Crusade House, Phoenix Bay, Port Blair which paid rich homage to the memory of Com. N. Vasudevan.

Surendran Pillai, President, CITU State Committee presided over the function. Addressing the gathering, D. Ayyappan, Vice President, CITU A & N State Committee recalled the contribution of N. Vasudevan to the working class movement in Andaman & Nicobar Islands. R. Rajendran, General Secretary, NGOs’ Association, RD Yadav, Vice President, NGOs’ Association and SL Vinjit, Asst General Secretary, Non-Gazetted Govt. Officers’ Association also spoke on the occasion. A large number of workers from various trade unions attended the function.  

Com N. Vasudevan was the first non-Congress Chairman of the Port Blair Municipal Board and held the post for a few days in April/May, 1990 before becoming the Counsellor (Health, Forest & Env) in the newly elected Pradesh Council.
