Car Nicobar, Sept. 4: Project KIRTI, the flagship sports talent identification scheme of Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports has kick started in India’s southernmost Nicobar District on the eve of National Sports Day. Despite its low population density, project KIRTI has received massive response from the Islanders. Over 700 children of the age group 10-18 years have participated in the event. 500 Registrations have been received from Campbell Bay, Katchal and Kamorta Islands.

Shri H. Nathaniel, District Education Officer, Nicobar stated that with the grassroot level talent identification approach of Project KIRTI, many talented sportspersons of this isles will be able to represent India at Olympics.
