Car Nicobar, Sept. 5: As part of Village Health Nutrition Day (VHND), an Out-Reach Health Camp was conducted yesterday under BJR Hospital for the tribal people of Tapoiming, Chuckchucha, Kinyuka and Big Lapathy villages of Car Nicobar. A large number of people including children, ANC mothers and elderly persons availed the benefits of this Health Camp.

During the camp, more than 100 patients benefitted from Allopathy Unit by Dr. Anwar Moosa (CMO), Ayurveda Unit by Dr. Partha Mondal (MO Ayurveda), Homoeopathy Unit by Dr. Mohammed Shafique (GDMO Homoeo) and Dental Unit by Dr. Ruth (Dental Surgeon) of BJR Hospital and medicines were distributed.

Apart from this, 44 children were screened by the RBSK (Nicobar) team for 4Ds by Dr. Deepika Sharma (MO RBSK Ayurveda) and Dr. Jiji Paul (MO RBSK Homoeo), 36 patients were screened by the Ophthalmic Unit, 11 Sputum cups were provided for AFB by NTEP Unit, 5 Antenatal mothers were also screened by ANMs, ASHAs and AWWs. Under Non-Communicable Diseases (NCDs) Clinic, 22 hypertension and 8 diabetic patients were detected by the CHOs and Health Educator.

This initiative was designed to provide essential health services and resources to tribal communities, ensuring that vital healthcare needs are met. This outreach health camp was part of the ongoing commitment to improving community health and well-being. The Captain and villagers expressed their happiness and demanded more such camps in the future to help needy patients of the Islands.
