Mayabunder, Sept. 10: The District Administration of North & Middle Andaman, under the aegis of the Andaman & Nicobar Administration, has launched the ‘PRAYAS’ initiative today. The programme, aimed at empowering students and connecting them with real-world experiences, was formally inaugurated by Shri Keshav Chandra, IAS, Chief Secretary, A&N Administration, during a virtual event.

The launch was graced by the presence of Dr. Dilraj Kaur, IAS, Commissioner-cum-Secretary, A&N Administration, Shri Dilkhush Meena, IAS, Deputy Commissioner, North & Middle Andaman District, Senior officials and school children. The ‘PRAYAS’ initiative seeks to foster career-oriented exposure by engaging students in activities that bridge academic learning with practical insights from various sectors, including Government Departments.

The event saw enthusiastic participation from officials and children across the District, including the Deputy Commissioner of North & Middle Andaman, Assistant Commissioner and Tehsildar of Mayabunder, Rangat, Diglipur. Students and faculty members from several schools in the district also joined the online event.

In his keynote address, the Chief Secretary highlighted the importance of providing students with a platform to explore career opportunities and develop essential life skills. He emphasized the Administration’s commitment to holistic education, which prepares students for the future by equipping them with knowledge, skills and values necessary for success in a rapidly changing world. He also urged that such type of campaign may be implemented in other Districts too.

Shri Dilkhush Meena, IAS, expressed his gratitude to the Chief Secretary and the Commissioner for their support and guidance in the conceptualization of PRAYAS. He assured that the District Administration would make concerted efforts to ensure the program's success by involving various Departments and professionals to mentor and guide students.

The initiative, set to run under the banner of ‘One Hour a Week’ will engage students with professionals from different fields, including Administration, Healthcare, Engineering, and Entrepreneurship, among others along with field exposures.
