Car Nicobar, Sept. 11: Kharif Campaign was launched at Mus village in Car Nicobar by the Department of Agriculture in association with UTATMA yesterday. The campaign, a month long programme will be conducted in all the 15 villages. This campaign is conducted every year to create awareness among the farmers about the various ongoing Schemes of the Agriculture and allied Departments.

Smt. R. Bhu Bharthy, Agriculture Officer welcomed the gathering and briefed about the importance of the campaign and also explained about seed treatment, PM-AASHA Scheme, PM-Kisan, Soil Health Card Scheme etc. She urged the copra producing farmers to register under e-Samriddhi portal to avail benefit of MSP under PM-AASHA scheme.

Smti D.Laxmi, Agriculture Assistant explained about Jal Shakti Abhiyaan, Organic Farming and Natural Farming including preparation and use of Jeevamrit, Neemastra etc.

Officials of allied Departments viz Forest, Industries and Fisheries participated and explained in detail about their Departmental ongoing schemes and urged the farmers to reap the maximum benefit. The Village Secretary of Mus village also urged the farmers to come forward and avail the benefits of various Departmental schemes.

Neemastra and Jeevamrit were distributed to the farmers to motivate them to adopt such practices. Planting was done near community Hall, Mus village to achieve the global campaign ‘Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam’ Plant4Mother. Altogether 30 farmers attended the programme.
