Pot Blair, Sept. 11: Red Run, a State Level Marathon of 5 kms for the college students and general public was organized by Andaman & Nicobar AIDS Control Society (ANACS) as directed by the National AIDS Control Organization (NACO), MoHFW, GoI today from Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose Stadium to Mazaar Pahad and back. The marathon was organized to create awareness on HIV & AIDS.
The marathon was flagged off by Ms. N. Nikita, a well-known cyclist from A & N Islands. The Red Run was organized under the guidance of Dr. Subrata Saha, Project Director, ANACS. Participants were also informed about various aspects of HIV & AIDS on the occasion.
Sagar Baral from JNRM won the 1st position while N. Jeevan Rao from ITI, Car Nicobar stood 2nd and Anand Kumar from DBRAIT won the 3rd position among the male category. Sampa Das from JNRM won the 1st position, Mausumi Howlader from DIET won the 2nd position and Pipasha from ANIIMS won the 3rd position among the female category.
In the general public category, Asim Kujur won the 1stposition, P. Pradosh Chinmay Raj won the 2nd position and K. Harish won the 3rd position among the male category. In the female category, Rinki Kumari won the 1st position, P. Alagammal won the 2nd position and V. Anjali won the 3rd position.
For the college level, the competition was conducted at various levels. The winners from each college from all the three districts of A& N Islands participated in this State Level Marathon. Students from ANCOL, Andaman Law College, ANIIMS, DBRAIT, DIET, ITI Dollygunj, JNRM, Pondicherry University Brookshabad, TGCE, Govt. Polytechnic Diglipur, Mahatma Gandhi Government College, Mayabunder and ITI Car Nicobar participated.
