Port Blair, Sept. 12: The Directorate of Industries, A&N Administration organized a short term skill development training program on ‘Handicrafts (Coconut Shell & Wooden) products’ at Gram Panchayat, Mannarghat from Aug.21, 2024. Altogether, 25 candidates including SHG members participated in the training program and were imparted basic skills and knowledge in making handicrafts, thus creating self-employment opportunities and avenues for their livelihood.
The training program concluded today with a valedictory function followed by an awareness program. Shri T. Alvi Kutty, Assistant Director (Tech) and Smti Subha Laxmi C.A. of the Directorate of Industries and A&NIKVIB disseminated information on various schemes implemented by the Directorate of Industries and A&NIKVIB. The handicraft products produced during the training was showcased which received much appreciation from PRI representatives and villagers.
Speaking on the occasion, Smti Sajida Banu, Pradhan, Gram Panchayat, Mannarghat and other PRI members appreciated the efforts of the Industries Department and the participants for making varieties of handicraft products and advised them to apply the skills obtained during the course of the training program for the betterment of their livelihood.
