Sri Vijaya Puram, Oct. 6: The Hon’ble Prime Minister of India has launched Vidyanjali 2.0, a school volunteer programme on 7th September, 2021 during the inaugural Conclave of Shikshak Parv 2021. The Vidyanjali 2.0 programme designed in line with the National Education Policy 2020, aims to enhance the quality of school education through community and volunteers' participation by allowing them to connect directly with Government and Government aided schools and share their knowledge and skills as well as contribute in the form of assets/material/ equipment.

Vidyanjali 2.0 provides a platform for a broad spectrum of volunteers— retired professionals, teachers, artists, alumni, NGOs, companies, corporate sectors, and other organizations to directly support the needs of schools. While the program encourages contributions of materials and assets, financial donations are not accepted.

A volunteer can participate in the programme by registering on Vidyanjali 2.0 portal and contributing in the identified list of services/activities or assets/material/equipment in schools of their choice. The broad categories of contribution cover services ranging from subject assistance, teaching of art & craft, yoga & sports and vocational skills to mentoring of students for career counselling and sponsoring of events/camps at schools. Additionally, contributions can be made by developing civil, electrical, and digital infrastructure, providing equipment for extracurricular activities and sports, supplying teaching and learning materials, and supporting regular maintenance and repairs.

Interested Volunteers, Alumni, NGOs, Corporate sectors and other organizations can register at https://vidyanjali.education.gov.in and become a part of this great initiative to build a brighter future for education in Andaman and Nicobar Islands. 323 schools have already been registered on the portal.
