Sri Vijaya Puram, Oct. 24: In a series of successful operations conducted during this week, the South Andaman District Police have arrested two drug peddlers and seized 2.341 kg of ganja. The arrest of these drug peddlers and the seizure of such a significant quantity of ganja in just one week underscores our commitment to ensuring a drug-free society.

Based on specific intelligence inputs, the team of Police Station Aberdeen conducted targeted raids at two different locations in this week. On 24/10/2024, a raid was executed at Phoenix Bay by the dedicated team led by Insp. Vishal Ram, SHO PS Aberdeen, the team comprised of Inspector Mithun Kirtania, Sub Inspector Abhishek Haldar, Head Constable S Jiju, Constables Jairaj, Mohd Rafique, Jagdish Babu, Surender Singh and Naw Elieen. The raid leading to apprehension of one Rajib Sarkar, 33 years, private worker R/o Delanipur with 2.140 Kg Ganja.

Another successful raid was conducted on 22/10/2024, near Junglighat cremation ground by the team, which leading to apprehension of one Chandveer @ Rahul, aged 29 years, R/o Junglighat with 201 grams of ganja. Cases under relevant sections have been registered against the accused persons.  Investigations are ongoing to identify any further links.

The entire raids were supervised by Miss. Anushtha Kalia, IPS, SDPO South Andaman and over all supervision of Smt. Niharika Bhatt, IPS, Superintendent of Police South Andaman District.
