Sri Vijaya Puram, Nov. 8: To inculcate the spirit of patriotism and unity among school students, the Department of School Education and Literacy, MoE, GoI is organizing School Band Competition throughout India. The State Level School Band Competition was organised by Samagra Shiksha, UT Mission, A & N Islands today at Govt. Boys’ Sr. Sec. School to select the Best School Band both under Boys and Girls categories to represent the UT at Zonal Level Competition for selection to participate in National Level Competition.
Altogether, 3 teams in Boys and 4 teams in Girls categories participated in the competition. The competition was judged by eminent Band Masters from Navy, Army and Police Departments. In the Girls Band Troop, Govt. Girls Sr. Secondary School, Sri Vijaya Puram stood first and Govt. Model Sr. Sec. School, Sri Vijaya Puram and PM SHRI GSSS Bambooflat stood second and third respectively. In the Boys Band Troop, Vivekananda Kendra Vidyalaya, Sri Vijaya Puram stood first while Nirmala Sr. Sec. School and Boys Sr. Sec. School stood second and third respectively.
Shri L. Kumar, IAS, Secretary (Education), graced the occasion at the closing ceremony as the chief guest and expressed his admiration for the artistic endeavours displayed by the students. He congratulated the winners of the competition and extended his best wishes and encouraged them to continue excelling in the future, so that the UT team can participate in Zonal Level Competition to compete in the National Level Competition. He also presented the winning trophies to the teams.
Earlier, Shri Vikram Singh, Director (Education) inaugurated the competition as chief guest. He encouraged the students to participate in the competition with full spirit and determination to take part in Zonal & National Level Competitions.
The State Project Officer, Samagra Shiksha welcomed the gathering and the programme concluded with vote of thanks by Deputy Director Education (Perl.).
