Kadamtala, Nov. 10: In a swift investigation, PS Kadamtala has solved an unnatural death case of Sunil Gomasta, S/o Late Amulya Gomasta, 50 yrs, R/o Bhakta Road, Kadamtala.
On 07/11/2024, PS Kadamtala received information that Sunil Gomasta had been found dead in his house. A case of unnatural death under Section 194 of BNSS was registered at PS Kadamtala based on a complaint from Sh. Tushar Suvra Gomasta, son of the deceased Sunil Gomasta, R/o Bhakta Road, Kadamtala, who reported that his father’s body was lying dead in his house. The investigation was assigned to ASI Buddhiswar Haldar of PS Kadamtala.
During the investigation, on 08/11/2024, a post-mortem examination was conducted at PHC Kadamtala. The doctor concluded that the cause of death was blood loss resulting from high-energy blunt trauma.
Acting on the doctor's opinion and the report submitted by the investigating officer, PS Kadamtala registered a murder case under relevant sections of BNS, 2023. The investigation was promptly undertaken by SI P.M. Krishna Kumar, SHO of PS Kadamtala. As the investigation progressed, focus turned to Tushar Gomasta, son of the deceased, aged 31, a private auto driver residing on Bhakta Road. Following extensive interrogation, Tushar confessed that on the evening of 06/11/2024, he found his father lying intoxicated on the road. When he attempted to wake him, his father began abusing him. In response, he struck his father’s right leg below the knee with a heavy wooden baton 3–4 times and threw the baton in nearby roadside bushes. He then took his injured father home, where he later succumbed to his injuries.
The accused was subsequently arrested, and the weapon used in the offense was seized. He was presented before the Hon’ble Court at Mayabunder on 10/11/2024. The investigation is in progress.
The investigation of the case is conducted under the guidance of Shri Rahul L. Nair, IPS, SDPO Rangat, and the overall supervision of Ms. Geetanjali Khandelwal, IPS, SP (D), N&MA.
