Sri Vijaya Puram, Jan 9: District Administration, South Andaman has taken strict action against violators who were indulged in illegal mining and unauthorized Transportation of Boulders in contravention of Land Revenue Regulations.
During a recent field inspection, the revenue officials found illegal extraction and transportation of earth at South Point Village. As a result, a fine of Rs 18,000/- (Rupees Eighteen thousand only) was imposed on the violators.
In another inspection near a quarry area, the revenue authorities checked the valid transit passes of trucks transporting boulders and two trucks were found to be carrying boulders without valid transit passes. The trucks were fined a total of Rs 84,000/- (Rupees Eighty-four thousand only) for illegal transportation of stone boulders.
The Deputy Commissioner, South Andaman has warned unscrupulous elements involved in illegal extraction and violation of Andaman and Nicobar Islands Land Revenue and Land Reforms Regulation 1966 to desist from indulging in such acts in future failing which stern action would be taken against them.
