Sri Vijaya Puram, Jan 22: The Ministry of Women & Child Development, Government of India, proudly celebrates the successful completion of 10 years of the Beti Bachao Beti Padhao (BBBP) scheme. In alingment with this, the ICDS Urban Project, under the Directorate of Social Welfare, Andaman & Nicobar Administration, commemorate the milestone on 22nd January 2025 at the historic Cellular Jail, Sri Vijaya Puram.

Shri Arjun Sharma, IAS, Deputy Commissioner, South Andaman, graced the occasion as the Chief Guest and Shri Ravindra Kumar, DANICS, Director, Directorate of Social Welfare, attended as the Guest of Honor. The event commenced with a pledge on BBBP, led by Director (SW), along with the senior officials, staff and ICDS field functionaries of the Social Welfare Department.

Following the pledge, the Deputy Commissioner, South Andaman officially flagged off a rally from the historic Cellular Jail. Participants, numbering 170, marched towards Ghanta Ghar, carrying a message of promoting the importance of the girl child, fighting gender-based discrimination, and discouraging sex-selective practices. The rally was impactful and successful, with participants receiving refreshments, further enhancing the event's success.
