Mayabunder, Jan 22: The North & Middle Andaman District proudly concluded the A&N Police Raising Week with a grand “Badakhana”, a joyous get-together and cultural event that brought together police personnel and family members in a spirit of unity and celebration. The week-long festivities honoured the dedication and hard work of the police force, with awards presented to the Best Crime Detection, Best Investigation Officer, Best Performer at PS/FS/PR/PMF level, and other outstanding contributors.

The week was marked by a series of vibrant activities that showcased the spirit of teamwork and community. The District Police hosted the SP-Cup Cricket Tournament 2025 at Netaji Stadium, Mayabunder, 16 teams competed with passion, culminating in an electrifying final. The event honored participants with awards, promoting sportsmanship, fitness, and community bonds. In addition, a thrilling doubles badminton tournament, a spirited Kabaddi match, and exciting Volleyball games highlighted the district’s commitment to fostering camaraderie and sportsmanship. Police families and children enjoyed fun activities at various stations, strengthening familial bonds.

In a touching tribute, visits were organized to honor retired officers and the families of martyrs, acknowledging their invaluable contributions to the force and the nation. Initiatives like "Vayovandan" empowered senior citizens by educating them about their rights, while "Sagar Darshi" engaged fishermen to bolster vigilance against illegal activities at sea.

Also, school students from various schools visited police stations for an educational tour, offering them a unique glimpse into the functions and operations of the police force. The students were engaged in an interactive session that highlighted the roles and responsibilities of police personnel, the importance of law enforcement, and the procedures involved in maintaining public safety and order. The visit provided valuable insights into the day-to-day workings of the police station, fostering awareness and appreciation for the pivotal role played by law enforcement in the community.

The celebrations also emphasized social responsibility and wellness, with impactful beach cleanups, rejuvenating Yoga Sessions, and engaging indoor games for police personnel and their families. Awareness initiatives, including fire safety awareness classes, essay competitions, and mock drills, actively engaged the community, highlighting the importance of safety and preparedness.
