Sri Vijaya Puram, Jan 27: The 76th Republic Day was celebrated with great enthusiasm by the entire civil aviation community at Veer Savarkar International Airport, Sri Vijaya Puram. The employees of Airports Authority of India, CISF, Airlines and other stakeholders participated in celebration. The entire airport premises was decorated with tri colour lights.

The program started with national flag unfurling by Airport Director Sh Devender Yadav followed by national anthem and guard of honour by CISF.

In the republic day address, the Airport Director said that success is not just achieving the target, it is the continuous journey to progress on duty path. The Airport Director highlighted that operationalization of international flight operations has brought the new dimension for tourism and golden opportunities to strengthen economy of the region. Airports Authority of India is further working on revolutionary initiatives for strengthening infrastructure and passengers’ facilitation amenities. Inline baggage handling system is expected to be operationalized soon. Canopy work in air side and city side has been awarded and expected to be completed before the monsoon season. To provide further opportunities to inclusive growth, one more outlet for self-help groups has been provisioned in the departure area of terminal building under the AVSAR scheme of Airports Authority of India. To unlock the true potential of the airport, aircraft operational hours have been extended and flights has been operationalized in the evening hours.

Airport Director has distributed commendation certificate to distinguished performing employees of civil aviation community. On the occasion CISF commandos showcased combat readiness with armed and without arms demonstrations. There were cultural programs in which aviation community employees as well as passengers participated with great enthusiasm.
