Epilepsy is the fourth most common chronic disorder of the brain characterized by recurrent ‘seizures’ or ‘fits. The seizures are caused due to sudden, excessive and abnormal electrical discharges in the brain cells. It can affect people of all ages; however, each individual has its unique concerns and problems.

Despite instructions, warnings and pleading from the government to abstain from lighting firecrackers, this Festival of Lights, the pleas fell largely on deaf ears. Dense smoke and deafening blasts of crackers bursting, clearly revealed the concerned people we really are.

The allegory of the long spoons is a parable that shows the difference between heaven and hell by means of people forced to eat with long spoons. It is attributed to Rabbi Haim of Romshishok.

How good we are at giving others advice!

 “Yours is one helluva bloody country,” exclaimed my English friend as he walked out of the airport.

 “On the contrary,” I protested, “we are a very peace loving, non violent people.”

 “Then why all the bloodshed,” said the Englishman.

A few days ago, two ex IAS officers spoke on, “Dissent in Democracy’ and since I was on the panel I said, that dissent was not just disagreement but someone stating, “Please listen to me! I too have a viewpoint on the subject!”

Yes, democracy gives us the right to be heard, and the government or those who wield authority the compliance to listen to opinions of others, other than themselves.
