Port Blair, Dec. 6: Shri Kuldeep Rai Sharma, President INTUC leading a delegation of the office bearers of the State Transport Employees Union called on Secretary cum Director of Transport in his chambers on 05.12.2012 and appraised him about the grievances of the employees.

The president sought early resolution to the issue related to creation of 628 posts in the Directorate, regularization of the services of Daily Rated Drivers & Conductors and Contract Workers employed in the State Transport Authority and Regional Transport Office, disbursement of retirement benefits to the worker on the day of retirement, canteen facilities for staff as well as general public at Port Blair, Ferargunj & Rangat Bus Terminus, transit accommodation for night halt of outstation visiting Drivers & Conductors, repairs of staff quarters at out station, payment of Over Time allowances by 20th of succeeding month, filling up of posts under compassionate appointment quota, grant of benefits to Drivers under graded promotion scheme and MACP concurrently, settlement of old cases regularization of ad-hoc services of workers, payment of bonus to eligible  contract employees, payment of  wages to contract Drivers on par with the contract Drivers of Secretariat, amendment to the Standing Order governing service condition of the workers.

The Director assured the Union to look into the grievances of employees and resolved them as per the merit at the earliest possible, a communication from Gandhi Bhawan said here.
