Port Blair, June 26: Reiterating its commitment to the social cause, Amway Opportunity Foundation, the CSR arm of Amway India Enterprises Pvt Ltd has celebrated the AOF day today with the children of Andaman & Nicobar Multiple Rehabilitation Centre in Port Blair in right spirit. Amway has commenced its operation in India way back in 1998 on 5th May. To mark the day, Amway observes the day as Amway Opportunity Foundation Day (AOF Day) every year with the renewed commitment towards the underprivileged children.  
 
At a formal fun filled occasion at Amway India, Mr. G S Cheema, Area Manager, West Bengal, Sikkim & Andaman Nicobar Islands and a volunteer of Amway Opportunity Foundation presented educational aid comprising Head phones, Speakers and key board to MS Ealiyamma Maximillan, Managing Trustee, ANMRC. These equipments will facilitae computer education for the visually challenged students at the AOF- ANMRC computer centre set up by Amway Opportunity Foundation in 2009. The children also presented musical soiree to the delight of the dignitaries. Volunteers from AOF and Amway Distributors from Port Blair also were present.
 
Speaking on the occasion, Mr. G S Cheema in Eastern India commented, “Amway strongly believes that corporate social responsibility is an integral part of the business and puts honest effort in giving back to society as a responsible corporate citizen. To renew our commitment towards the children of the society, we at Amway observe the day of commencement of our operations in India as AOF day and it is the best way to celebrate our feat with the children of our sunrise partner. We are celebrating the day with our sunrise partners in all the states of eastern India. We hope that our little contribution would bring smile to the children of Andaman & Nicobar Multiple Rehabilitation Centre’.” He added that Amway distributors were equal partners in Amway’s CSR efforts.
 
Amway Opportunity Foundation has partnered with Andaman & Nicobar Multiple Rehabilitation Centre, as part of the Project Sunrise, the global CSR initiative to help them secure quality education, healthcare service and access to safe drinking water. AOF had set up a computer centre - christened AOF centre for excellence in information technology in ANMRC. The centre for excellence in information technology in ANMRC, inaugurated by William S Pinckney, Chairman, Amway Opportunity Foundation is equipped with computers, sound system, special screen software and headphones for visually challenged children.Amway Opportunity Foundation also presented educational aid and projector, screen for showcasing educational films to the children. Amway Opportunity Foundation also presented 3 water purifiers to ANMRC enabling the children access to safe drinking water. AOF presented educational stationery comprising school kits enabling them to enjoy quality education.
