Port Blair, Jan. 11: A drive has been organized by the traffic Police of P.S. Aberdeen from 28/12/11 onwards against Private Buses which were reportedly not adhering to their schedule and the routes allotted to them by the State Transport Authority of the A&N Administration, Port Blair. During the drive, 10 buses bearing Reg: No. D-5971, C-1827, C-3109, A-5960, C-4488, A-4073, G-3696, C-3472 and C-3463 have been caught red-handed by the Traffic Police. These were plying outside of the scheduled time as well as returning half-way without completing the allotted routes. All the buses were challaned and an amount of Rs. 26,000/- have been realized as fine from seven buses and whereas the challans of three buses sent to court. We have also referred the case of one of the buses bearing Reg. No. AN 01-C-3109 to secretary S.T.A. for suspension of route permit for repeated violations of route permit, a police communication said.

In this connection a meeting was also organized by Dy.SP (Traffic) at Traffic Branch on 9/1/12 with the officials and Andaman and Nicobar Islands Private Bus Owners Association Delanipur, Port Blair led by R.S. Yadav, President. During the meeting, Dy.SP (Traffic) advised all the owners and the officials of their association to adhere to the timings, schedule and route allotted to their buses by the S.T.A. Immediately after the meeting Shri R.S. Yadav, President of Bus owners association also issued a letter and advised all Private Bus owners to ply the buses as per their scheduled time and allotted route Vide Letter No. ANIPB.A dated 9/1/12 (Copy of the same is enclosed).

All the owners and drivers of Pvt. Buses have been warned again to not to violate their route permits and the scheduled time allotted to their respective buses by the S.T.A. failing which matter will be referred to S.T.A. for suspension of their route permits, besides initiating other legal action against them.
