Port Blair, Jan. 4: The Commonwealth Educational Media Centre for Asia, the regional unit of Commonwealth of Learning, an inter-governmental agency has been retained by the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, Government of India to organize Community Radio Awareness Workshop in various parts of the country. In this regard the Ministry of Information & Broadcasting and Ministry of Home Affairs has proposed to set up a series of community radio stations in the A&N Islands.
To spread awareness on the programme, Commonwealth Educational Media Centre for Asia (CEMCA) will be organising community radio awareness workshop in January 2012 at Port Blair for duration of 3 days from 23rd Jan. 2012 to 25th Jan. 2012 at Conference Hall, Megapode Resort Port Blair. The workshop will be attended by officials from the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, WPC wing of the Ministry of Telecommunications, MHA, MOD and Dept. of Science & Technology representatives to guide the educational, agricultural and civil society organisations to set up community radio stations.
