Port Blair, Jan. 6: The Hon’ble Lt. Governor, A&N Islands, Lt Gen (Retd) Bhopinder Singh, PVSM, AVSM has sanctioned one lakh rupees each from out of the Lt. Governor’s Relief Fund in three cases of unnatural and accidental deaths.  One lakh rupees has been sanctioned to the next of kin of Shri S. Yamma Rao s/o. S. Babu Rao who got drowned in the sea during cyclonic conditions prevailing on 26 December after his dinghy got damaged and he could not swim back to the shore though others swam and returned. His dead body was recovered on 29 December after hectic searches made by the authorities.

One lakh rupees has been sanctioned to  the next of kin of Shri Hakey, s/o Shri  Vincent  aged about  35 years r/o. Chuckchucha village who died  when a coconut tree fell on him on 24 December during stormy weather  conditions prevailing in Car Nicobar.

In another accident, a 24 year  old  boy, Kumar C.H Hemraj s/o. CH Madhav Rao, r/o. Farm Tikery in Hut Bay who had gone for fishing  at old Machli Dera Nallah but  became a victim of a crocodile. One lakh rupees has been sanctioned from LG’s discretionary fund to the next of kin of Kumar Hemraj.
