Port Blair, July 14: The Lt. Governor, Lt Gen. (Retd.) Bhopinder Singh, PVSM, AVSM shall formally launch the AADHAAR project at Raj Niwas at 5 pm tomorrow (July 15). Following this, the Directorate of Civil Supplies & Consumer Affairs will organise an inaugural ceremony at 5.30 pm at Dr. B.R. Ambedkar Auditorium tomorrow for the enrolment process of Unique Identification Number (AADHAAR). The Chief Secretary, A&N Admn. Shri Shakti Sinha will be the chief guest on the occasion. The Chairperson, PBMC, Smt. Firdosh Bibi will also be present on this occasion. 

The General Public of Ward no. 5, 6 and 13 of Port Blair Municipal Council are hereby informed that the enrolment for Unique Identity Number (AADHAAR) shall start from 15th July, 2011 at Dr. B.R.Ambedkar Auditorium, Port Blair at 06.00 PM onwards and shall continue upto 09.00 PM. The process of enrolment will continue from 16th July onwards from 09.00 AM to 06.00 PM with 1 Hour lunch break from 01.00 PM to 02.00 pm.

The Unique Identity Number (AADHAAR) will be given to all the residents for which they are requested to fill up a Enrolment Form which will be made available to them in advance and when they come to the Enrolment Centre for the Registration they are requested to bring the filled up Enrolment Form and Copies of document for proof of Identity and proof of address. The documents like Ration Card/Islander Identity Card/Election photo Identity card/Driving licence/Bank pass book/Pension card and other documents issued by a State Govt. Official and any other document by which they can prove their Identity will be sufficient.

If any resident is not having any of the above documents they are also requested to come to the Enrolment Centre along with their Ward Councillors who will act as introducer and on introducing the Enrolment of such residents will be allowed.

The AADHAAR number will be helpful in establishing the identity of a person and in future the Welfare Schemes of the Govt, shall be AADHAAR based and the AADHAAR number shall be a helpful document for availing the benefits of the Scheme.

After completion of the Enrolment process in Ward no. 5, 6 and 13 the\residents of other Wards will be covered after giving information to all the public.
