It is a matter of immense pleasure that World Veterinary Day-2011 is being celebrated on 30th April 2011. On this occasion I extend my good wishes to all the Veterinarians who have dedicated themselves to this noble profession. The theme for celebrations this year is “Rabies”, which is a deadly viral disease which can affect human beings, domestic animals and wild animals. It continues to be a major public health problem for which specific line of treatment is not available. We are fortunate that the Andaman & Nicobar Islands have maintained “Rabies Free” status till date.

I am confident that Veterinarians will make an earnest effort to ensure that our farm animals are disease-free and in good health so that they can contribute to the growth and prosperity of these Islands.

I once again congratulate all the Veterinarians and urge them to work together to serve the speechless.
