Port Blair, Jan. 18: As part of the biennial event ‘MILAN – 2012 scheduled from 01 – 06 Feb 2012 at Port Blair, a sailing expedition of the J-24 class sailboat sailed off from Port Blair on 17th Jan 12 to the beautiful Island city of Phuket, Thailand. This maiden voyage was flagged off from Naval Wharf, Haddo, by Rear Admiral Karambir Singh, Chief of Staff, Andaman and Nicobar Command.

The J-24 class sailboat is 24 feet long and has an approximate weight of 1400 kg. The total sailing duration from Port Blair to Phuket and back will be about ten days, covering a distance of over 800 nautical miles. The crew and the sailboat will be spending about three days in Phuket before arriving back at Port Blair.
