Port Blair, Jan. 16: The Army Component of Headquarters Andaman & Nicobar Command is celebrating the 64th Army Day with traditional pomp & show. As part of the ongoing events, a special ‘Sainik Sammelan’ was organised on 14 Jan 2012 at Birchgunj Military Station. Commander-in-Chief of the Andaman & Nicobar Command, Lt Gen NC Marwah, AVSM, addressed a huge gathering of serving Army Personnel of Andaman & Nicobar Command and the Ex-servicemen (Army) residing at Andaman & Nicobar Islands. In an inspiring address, Lt Gen NC Marwah, AVSM paid rich tributes to the martyrs & reiterated the need to renew the commitment towards professionalism and jointmanship amongst all services. Emphasizing upon upholding the ethos of the Defence Forces, the Commander-in-Chief lauded the untiring efforts put-in by the Army Personnel in all spheres of activities, be it in operations, training, welfare, shouldering social responsibilities or environmental preservation. In recognition of the selfless service & unflinching loyalty towards the Nation, displayed by the ‘Men in Olive Greens’ the Commander-in-Chief bestowed 13 Commendation Cards upon the highly inspired & motivated Army Officers and Soldiers. Past the Sainik Sammelan, the General Officer interacted with retired and serving Army Personnel and shared his thoughts over a cup of tea.
