Port Blair, Aug. 16: Towards fulfilling the commitment of providing assistance to civil Administration and enhancing the scope of Civil-Military interface, the Army Component has been providing regular training to the police recruits and the recruits of Indian Reserve Battalion. The Army component had provided training to the first batch of Indian Reserve Battalion last year and this year it trained 135 IRBn recruits. The Young blood were imparted training in various Facets which will make them worthy of their uniform before being able to provide their services to the common man.

The training mainly focused on- counter insurgency operations. In addition the recruits were also imparted physical training, training in weapon handling, counter terrorist operations and anti- poaching operations along with live firing practice. The conduct of training was well received by the young recruits as they were able to draw valuable lessons from the battle hardened soldiers. Overall the recruits have gained valuable ground knowledge and their training with the Army will hold them in good stead in the times to come.
