Port Blair, Aug. 24: The Bharatiya Janata Party’s National leader and former President Shri Rajnath Singh, who is on a visit to the islands today said, “BJP will leave no stone unturned if any attempt is made to insult the martyrs of freedom struggle”.

Soon after his arrival today, Rajnath Singh visited the historical ‘Viper Island’ to take a stock of developments taking place in the sacred land, which has hurt the sentiments of the Islanders. The national leader was accompanied by Shri John M Lobo and Shri Mukeshwar Lall, who explained the history of the Island, and what it would mean if the island is leased out to a foreign company to construct luxury resort on it.

“If a monument is erected at Viper Island, it will send a clear message that India’s freedom struggle was not just won but it was because of the unity among the Hindus and Muslims”, he said while talking to scribes at Viper.

Rajnath further said, “I learnt that there is a plan to construct a resort at Viper Island by a Malaysian Company. It is the same spot where the British hosted parties while the freedom fighters were hanged to death few meters away in large numbers”.

“I am astonished that this holy land is being given on lease at the rate of Rs. 1/- to a Malaysian Company to construct Hotel and Resort. Bharatiya Janata Party condemns the move of the Administration and will leave no stone unturned if any such development takes place”.

Soon after visiting Viper Island, the BJP National Leader visited Bambooflat from where he went around and met the tsunami affected farmers who haven’t been paid any compensation even after eight years of the calamity.

Rajnath Singh is also scheduled to visit Campbell Bay to meet the tsunami affected farmers out there before addressing a public meeting at ITF Ground tomorrow evening.
