Port Blair, Aug. 17: At a simple function held at Raj Niwas here today, the Lt Governor Lt Gen (Retd) Bhopinder Singh, PVSM, AVSM administered Sadbhavana Pledge to all the staff of Lieutenant Governor’s Secretariat. The birth anniversary of Late Rajiv Gandhi, former Prime Minister of India is observed as Sadbhavana Diwas. The main objective for the observation of the day is to encourage and strengthen peace and unity amongst the people of the country regardless of caste, region, religion or language. The day which is actually observed on August 20 was observed today as there is a general holiday on August 20 due to Eid-ul-Fitre

Meanwhile “Sadhbhavana Diwas” pledge was also administered both in Hindi and English to the students, teachers and staff of Govt. Senior Secondary School, Oralkatcha along with all the ten feeder school today at 09:00 am with great enthusiasm.
