Port Blair, Sept. 30: The Central Government Employees welfare coordination Committee(CGEWCC) bids emotional farewell to K Sekar, Chief Engineer, Andaman and Lakshadweep Harbour Works (ALHW) and the Chairman of the Committee last evening at Port Blair.   He retires this month on superannuation after 34 years of distinguished service in ALHW.

The function witnessed some emotional moments with the members saying he will be missed and fond memories of his association always linger in their minds. Recollecting his long association with the CGEWCC,  the officer bearer, Edward said the committee effectively served to the interests of the Central Government employees in these far flung islands under his dynamic leadership and took remarkable initiatives for the staff welfare including  rationalization of government quarters allotment.   He said he started his career in ALHW as Asst Engineer in the year 1978 and rose to great heights as Chief Engineer by his exemplary performance and dedication to work throughout his career. 

The Chief Engineer designate, ALHW,  Bimal Sinha and Dr Ramanujam also spoke on the occasion and wished him to have a blissful life. The Principal of Kendriya Vidyalaya I Amita Jyotisha presented a memento to the outgoing chairman, K Sekar on behalf of the members.

Speaking on the occasion, K Sekar said he achieved many things in his professional life because of the unstinted cooperation rendered by his team members in ALHW.   He said anything can be achieved in an organization only through team work with team spirit and not by an individual alone.  He thanked every one for their wholehearted support during his long stint in ALHW.

Mr Hiram Job and party presented emotional farewell songs and enthralled every one.
