Port Blair, Sept. 6: The Minister of State for Home Affairs, Shri Mullapally Ramachandran has made it clear once more that the A&N Islands Protection of Aboriginal Tribes Amended Regulations 2012 promulgated by the President of India on 27th July 2012 has been brought into force w.e.f. 9th July 2012.
Replying to a question raised by the Member of Parliament, Shri Bishnu Pada Ray, the MOS clarified further that the Buffer Zone has to be re-notified under the provisions of A&N Islands Protection of Aboriginal Tribes Amendment Regulation 2012. For this purpose, a committee under the chairmanship of the Chief Secretary, A&N Islands has been constituted by the UT Administration.
