33 STS Busses Stranded at Kolkata Port For Want of Transportation

Port Blair, Sept. 7: As many as 33 busses ordered by the State Transport Service, A&N Administration have been stranded at Kolkata Port, for want of transportation. Sources inform that the 33 busses meant to be used for public transport in the islands have been stranded at the port for the past three months or so.

It is further learnt that the Transport Department here is paying an amount of Rs. 33,000/- per day to the Port Management at Kolkata as port charges for parking the busses.

Expressing his concern, Shri R. Mohan, State President BJP has appealed to the Lt. Governor to make arrangements to get the busses to the islands at the earliest.

He said, the busses should be transported without wasting any time and public money.

The responsibility of transporting the busses to the islands was awarded to the Directorate of Shipping Services, A&N Administration but this department has been keeping mum over the matter.
