Port Blair, April 4: The Port Blair Municipal Council with the help of Police has re-sealed the top floor of the building being constructed in violation to sanction granted on Survey no. 19/2 at Aberdeen Bazaar village on 03.04.2013. The building was being constructed in gross violation of the norms of Building Bye laws.
The Secretary, Port Blair Municipal Council in a communication stated that similar action will be taken whenever any unauthorized constructions are noticed. He has advised the builders to follow the law in their own interest.

Port Blair, April 4: The Vitala Public School, Hope Town and St Paul’s School, Wimberly Gunj celebrated their Annual Day on 23rd March 2013 at Wimberly Gunj Mini Stadium complex. Dr R Dev Das, Director of Education was the Chief Guest. On the occasion Sree Ram, Winner of Indian Idol-5 was the special guest who had flown in from mainland to attend the function.
Students from both the schools jointly put up a variety entertainment show on the theme “We Are One” which included dance performances, poem recital, speech, skit, standup comedy, recalling the contribution made by great leaders/ freedom fighters, prayer and patriotic songs. Almost all the students had the opportunity to showcase their extracurricular talent by participating in one or the other activity
The show which was open even for the general audience was enjoyed by a large section of students from other schools, their parents and villagers from Hope Town to Wimberly Gunj and nearby areas. Presence of Sree Ram added a thrill factor. He sang some of his hit numbers such as Meri Maa and Vande Mataram which was equally supported by stage performance by school students and applauded by the entire section of the gathering.
Mrs Kezia from the founder family of Vitala Public School recounting the past thanked God, her family members and all the well wishers who rendered their support in her quest to establish the Vitala Public School at Hope Town. She specifically mentioned two of the school teachers Smti Jagadamma and Smti Mallika and felicitated them for their contribution in the overall development of both the schools.
Dr R Dev Das speaking on the occasion lauded the schools performance and stressed on the need for providing all necessary facilities and guidance to the students as prescribed under RTE. Other speakers include Rev Yesu Paul, International Worship Leader of Hyderabad, Dr Francis Xavier from JNRM, Mr Mary Joseph, DEO Wimberly Gunj, Dr M Ayyaraju ADE, Mr Sashi Kumar ADE, and the Parents of Master Shoaib who got injured after coming in contact with live high tension electricity wires while playing near his home. Shoaib’s mother recounted the timely help provided by Vitala Public School management, Shoaib’s classmates and other students of the school who contributed generously in cash and kind for treatment of Shoaib at mainland. The entire gathering led by Rev Yesu Paul applauded Shoaib’s resilience and prayed for him.

Port Blair, April 4: The employees of Havelock Forest Division have reconstituted its union as "Andaman Forest Employees Union Havelock" affiliated with INTUC. The Union consists with Kuldeep Rai Sharma as its President, V Karuppaiah, Smti Abala Samaddar as Vice presidents.
KP Aboobacker, Khagain Mondal, Jagdish, Uma Maheshwari and Dharma Rao have been included as General Secretary, Assistant General Secretary, Joint Secretary, Organizing Secretary and Treasurer respectively, while Smti Josna Dhali, Ganga Rao, Philip Toppo, Kaladius Minj, Telesphore Lakara, Prabhusai Barla and Shaten Mistry are included as executive members.
Soon after constitution of the Union, the President Kuldeep Rai Sharma placed a demand to the Divisional Forest Officer, Havelock Forest Division for proper toilets to each unit of accommodations of workers separately, providing drainage and repairing of leaky roofs. Sharma also demanded for piped water facility to the accommodations of Mazdoors of Krishna Nagar Camp from the existing water storage tank constructed by the APWD.
