Port Blair, April 1: The PCC President, Shri Kuldeep Rai Sharma has met the Principal Secretary, Shipping, Shri Jalaj Srivastava along with a delegation of crew members of the Inter Island Sector. During the meeting, the PCC Prez apprised the Secretary of the grievances of the crew and stated that as per the prevailing rules, the wage agreement is made on every two year basis but since 2006 onward no such agreement has been made for implementation. The crew members are thus deprived for many service facilities. Sharma requested the Secretary to prepare wage agreement with retrospective effect.

 

Port Blair, April 1 (Dr. Dinesh): Abhishaik Singh from Port Blair, working in an IT company in Chennai, S/o Late Anirudh Singh and Mrs. Shashi Kiran Singh, of Port Blair, Andaman is contesting for Manhunt Gladrags  Megamodel event at Mumbai. He has made it in the top 9 category.

According to reports, Abhishaik has already secured couple of awards, which will be declared by the management after the competition concludes.

Abhishaik while in IT Profession had started his career in modelling. He has also done modelling in Chennai for some branded shirt earlier last year.

When contacted, Mrs. Shashi Kiran Singh presently posted as GTT, GSSS, Neil Island, she said “ I am very happy  to see my son in channel “V”, but  due to poor telephone connectivity at Neil Island, I am not getting latest update from my son and feel little bit disappointed. Anyway my blessings are with him”.  

Gladrags is an Indian magazine, which features modelling and related events. Every year Gladrags conducts the Manhunt Contest, in which the most appealing male is selected as winner and the magazine promotes him.

They first conduct a round of selection from the regions and then post all the elimination rounds for the final contestants. The group undergoes vigorous training including physical fitness, grooming, catwalk, diction, speech and so on.

Port Blair, April 1: A person named Satender Singh was found in a hanging position inside KVR Residency, Babu Lane, Port Blair yesterday morning. According to sources, Satender, aged 34 was a resident of Delhi. He had come down to the islands for job.

The deceased was initially working at Recon Company, Lamba Lane as a LMV Driver and was later removed from his job. He then joined Agarwal Packers in Port Blair but was again fired due to his irregular attendance.

After having been removed from the job, late Satender took a room at KVR Residency on 25th March 2013. It was on 30th March 2013 Satender locked himself inside the room and did not open till late in the morning. Having suspected something fishy, the lodge management sought the help of the Police. Upon reaching the spot, the Police team broke open the locked door and found Satender Singh in a hanging position.

Sources further inform that there is no foul play detected as the movement of Satender before he locked himself was recorded on the CCTV. Post mortem examination of the deceased was conducted and after arrival of his relatives from Delhi, he was cremated.

It is learnt that Satender belonged to a poor family. Even his family members had to avail loan from friends and relatives to come down to Port Blair for the last rites of the deceased.
