170 Certificate of Competency Revalidated

Sri Vijaya Puram, Nov. 8: The Chief Secretary, A&N Administration on 14.10.2024 had taken review of the grievances put forth by representatives of various Inland Vessel Associations, which were mainly related to Revalidation of Certificate of Competency (CoC) and Completion of Survey of Inland Vessels. Accordingly, Port Management Board (PMB) was mandated by the Chief Secretary to ensure that the two issues are resolved on priority and within a stipulated time frame. These issues were further deliberated by Secretary (Shipping) and directives were issued to constitute a Committee under the Chairmanship of Chief Port Administrator, so that the Revalidation of Certificate of Competency could be completed in a transparent manner and in compliance to the provisions contained in A&N Inland Vessel Rules, 2016. The Committee constituted for Revalidation of Certificate of Competency held regular meetings and a total of 170 Certificate of Competency were revalidated.

Sri Vijaya Puram, Nov. 8: Shri Madhu S Nair, CMD, Cochin Shipyard Limited along with his team on visit to A&N Islands for 279th Board Meeting of Cochin Shipyard Limited at Sri Vijaya Puram called on Admiral D K Joshi, PVSM, AVSM, YSM, NM, VSM (Retd.), Hon’ble Lt. Governor, A&N Islands and Vice-Chairman, Islands Development Agency today at Raj Niwas. Delegation apprised the Hon’ble Lt. Governor on the status of expeditious implementation and Operationalization of Cochin Shipyard Ltd. & Andaman & Nicobar Ship Repair Unit (CANSRU) agreement for developing A&N Islands as Regional Ship Building Repair Hub.

Car Nicobar, Nov. 8: The serene Islands of Car Nicobar witnessed a vibrant celebration of culture, community and entrepreneurship with the commencement of Carnic Festival -2024 inaugurated by the chief guest, Ms. Jyoti Kumari, IAS, Deputy Commissioner, Nicobar District yesterday at Edward Kutchat Park, Perka Village, Car Nicobar. The guest of honour, Shri Sunny Gupta, IPS, Superintendent of Police, Nicobar District, HoDs and general public were also present on the occasion.

Sri Vijaya Puram, Nov. 8: To inculcate the spirit of patriotism and unity among school students, the Department of School Education and Literacy, MoE, GoI is organizing School Band Competition throughout India. The State Level School Band Competition was organised by Samagra Shiksha, UT Mission, A & N Islands today at Govt. Boys’ Sr. Sec. School to select the Best School Band both under Boys and Girls categories to represent the UT at Zonal Level Competition for selection to participate in National Level Competition.

Sri Vijaya Puram, Nov. 8: A case vide FIR No. 150/24 dated 01/10/2024 u/s 109/118(1) BNS 2023 has been registered at PS Pahargaon in which one Robin Haldar had attacked a lady with a machete at Garcharma with the intent to kill her and had run away from the spot. The lady sustained serious injuries.
