DM South Andaman Relaxes Timings for Essential and Non-Essential Businesses
Port Blair, June 21: In order to place stricter measures of isolation and social distancing in the South Andaman District to control the surge in the cases of COVID-19 and also to prevent any disturbance to the peace and tranquillity and taking into consideration the request of the public representatives and general public, the District Magistrate, South Andaman, Shri Suneel Anchipaka, IAS in an order no. 773 dates 21st June 2021 has ordered continuation of the current lockdown w.e.f. 22nd June 2021. The lockdown has been extended for a week upto 28th June 2021 with more relaxation in timings.
Highlights:
Shops selling essential items to be allowed to operate from 06.00 am to 1.00 pm
Shops dealing with non-essential items shall be allowed to open on Saturday, Sunday and Monday between 06:00 AM to 1:00 PM
In-situ construction activities shall be permitted, but no movement of labourers is permitted out of the work site.

Port Blair, June 20: The National Union of Seafarers of India (NUSI) has alleged violations of the approval of Hon’ble Lt. Governor and Rules & Regulations under law by the Crew Cell of the Directorate of Shipping Services, A&N Administration.
In a letter to the Chief Secretary (Chief Vigilance Officer), A&N Administration, the NUSI Branch Representative, Dharvinder Ram explained that the Crew Cell under the Directorate of Shipping Services is dealing with employment of Seafarers. The Seafarers are engaged from Permanent Company Roster and in case of shortage the same are filled by Contract Crew. The seniority wise employment from Permanent Company Roster and Contract Roster has been the key arrangement to ensure there is no favouritism, transparency and equal rights of employment are restored.

Port Blair, June 20: Rotary tanker (Tamilnad Kidney Research) foundation dialysis unit was today symbolically dedicated to the people of the islands by Rotary International President Elect Shekhar Mehta virtually from Kolkatta in the virtual presence of Rotary District governors of Kolkatta, Chennai, Australia, Pillar Hospital management, Port Blair, members of tanker foundation and members of Rotary Club of Guindy and Rotary Club of Port Blair at the Pillar Hospital today.

Port Blair, June 20: The Centre will begin the free distribution of COVID vaccines to all the States & Union Territories from tomorrow (June 21). This includes vaccines for beneficiaries of all age group including those between 18 to 44 years, said the Secretary (IP&T), Shri Sunil Kumar Singh addressing the media persons on COVID-19 status in the Islands held in the conference hall of IP&T here this evening. He said, the Administration has received more than 19000 doses of vaccine and another 4000 doses of vaccine is expected to arrive soon. The vaccines will be administered free of cost to Islanders.

Port Blair, June 20: The District Administration continuing with its efforts to provide relief and assistance to the people during the pandemic has taken various pro-active steps to ensure that people feel secure and safe. In this connection the District Administration distributed ration kits at Hopetown, Calicut and Attampahad and also took measures to address the problems of general public.
