Departments asked to ensure Officials are called on duties on Alternate Days

Port Blair, May 31: Though there is a marginal dip in the positive cases, it is felt that the Administration cannot be complacent until there is drastic reduction in the number of positive cases, read the Order No. 696 dated 31st May 2021 issued by the District Magistrate South Andaman.

In order to place stricter measures of isolation and social distancing in the South Andaman District to control the surge in the cases of COVID-19 and also to prevent any disturbance to the peace and tranquillity, Shri Suneel Anchipaka, IAS, District Magistrate, South Andaman has ordered that the lockdown will be imposed in the entire South Andaman w.e.f. 31.05.2021. The Order No. 696 shall come into effect from 01st June 2021 and shall remain in force till 07th June 2021.

Suggest Improving Infrastructure Facilities for Children’s Treatment Considering Possibility of Anticipated 3rd Wave

Port Blair, May 31: The Non-Gazetted Government Officers’ Association, A&N Islands has welcomed and appreciated the decision of the A & N Administration to extend free vaccination to all Islanders of the age group 18-44. In a letter addressed to the Lt. Governor of the Islands and Chief Secretary the General Secretary of the Association Shri T S Sreekumar demanded speeding up of the ongoing vaccination drive. The Association pointed out that on an average only 600 citizens of the age group 18-44 have been vaccinated in the Islands on every day from the commencement vaccination to this group on 19th May, 2021 and expressed concern over tardy progress of the vaccination drive. Since vaccination is the only remedy, as of now, against the pandemic Covid–19, the Association requested the Administration to pursue Government of India for larger allotment vaccine doses to complete the vaccination drive at the earliest. 

District Magistrate Issues Notice

Port Blair, May 31: There have been allegations getting viral on the social media platforms about the exorbitant amount charged by a private hospital named Chakraborty Hospital for treatment of Late Goutam Roy. The deceased Goutam Roy had succumbed to COVID-19 at GB Pant Hospital after ten days of treatment at Chakraborty Hospital. According to an invoice handed over to the bereaved family of Goutam, an amount of Rs. 7,18,300/- has been handed over by the hospital which includes consultation fee, bed charges etc. apart from an amount of Rs. 84,000/- for Oxygen Cylinders.

Port Blair, May 31: Lt Gen Manoj Pande, AVSM, VSM the 15th Commander-in-Chief of Andaman and Nicobar Command (CINCAN), is set to relinquish Command of the Joint Services Command at Andaman and Nicobar Islands on 31 May 2021, consequent to his appointment as the General Officer Commanding-in-Chief Eastern Army Command with effect from 01 Jun 2021.
