Sri Vijaya Puram, Feb. 5: The candidates who have applied for the post of Anganwadi Worker and Anganwadi Helpers under ICDS Project, Ferrargunj, South Andaman as per the notification vide no. 4-12/ICDS/SA/AWW/AWH/2024-25/769 dated 06.12.2024 and on completion of last date of application i.e. on 20.12.2024, the application were scrutinized and the list of eligible and the non-eligible candidates along with the reason of ineligibility have been displayed in the notice board of the office of CDPO, ICDS Project, Ferrargunj along with date time and venue of interview. Any claims and objection can be submitted within 02 days from the date of the publication.

Sri Vijaya Puram, Feb. 5: The passenger/general public have been informed that, due to administrative reasons, the scheduled departure of the vessel MV Nalanda from Car Nicobar to Sri Vijaya Puram via Little Andaman on 07.02.2025 at 1600 hrs has been postponed.

Sri Vijaya Puram, Feb 4: At the call given by the All India Federation of Anganwadi Workers & Helpers to protest against the neglect of Anganwadi Workers & Helpers in the Union Budget presented in the Parliament on 1st February, 2025, the Andaman & Nicobar Anganwadi Workers & Helpers (CITU) conducted a territory-wide mass demonstration/mass dharna today (4.2.2025) afternoon. The main programme was held in front of the Directorate of Social Welfare at Goalghar in which a large number of Anganwadi Workers & Helpers of urban and rural South Andaman areas participated. Inaugurating the mass demonstration, B. Chandrachoodan, General Secretary, CITU State Committee said that the Modi government has been trying to crush the trade union rights of the workers by bringing in four labour codes. He said that the central government is not accepting any of the demands of the Anganwadi Workers & Helpers. 

Pahargaon Police Busts Sextortion Racket Involved in Crores of Extorted Funds

Sri Vijaya Puram, Feb 4: In a major crackdown, Police Station Pahargaon successfully busted an illegal narcotics supply and sextortion criminal syndicate. The operation, based on reliable intelligence, led to the arrest of multiple individuals engaged in these illegal operations.

On January 6, 2025, a team led by Inspector Mohd. Elias, SHO PS Pahargaon, comprising of Sub-Inspector Manish Narayan and Police Constables Rahul Kumar Maurya, Shiv Kumar and Reena, intercepted two individuals Nazneen Khan (34) and Menka Singh (24) near a resort in Kamraj Nagar. A search of Menka Singh resulted in the seizure of approximately 1 gram of Methamphetamine. The operation was carried out under the supervision of Shri Vikas Swami, IPS, Assistant Superintendent of Police (South Andaman), and a case was registered under the relevant provisions of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, 1985. Sub-Inspector Shivhare was assigned to investigate the matter further.

Sri Vijaya Puram, Feb 4: The District Administration, South Andaman in its efforts to reclaim and safeguard public assets, has intensified its strategic encroachment eviction initiative, ensuring that government land is restored to its rightful purpose.

In the recent eviction drive in Teyolarabad Village (New Bimblitan area), revenue officials successfully removed an illegal encroachment by dismantling a tin structure. A total area of 300 square meters of government revenue land has been restored to the government khata. Additionally, a recorded tenant had developed an unapproved katcha road on government revenue land without the necessary permissions. The unauthorized construction has been blocked by the revenue staff to prevent further encroachment.
