Port Blair, July 27: D. Ayyappan, Secretary, CPI (M) A & N State Organising Committee accompanied by R. Surendran Pillai, President and SP Kalairajan, Secretary, CITU A & N State Committee met the Chief Secretary, A & N Administration today (27.07.2023) and brought to his notice a number of issues pertaining to the workers working in various departments and unemployed youths.  

Port Blair, July 27: The general public, business entities and stakeholders of A&N Islands have been informed that the previously scheduled downtime for the Chennai-Andaman-Nicobar Submarine Optical Fiber Cable has been rescheduled due to administrative reasons and will now take place a day earlier i.e., from 28.07.2023 (Friday) from 2000 hours to 29.07.2023 (Saturday) 1000 hours.

Port Blair, July 27: On 26/07/2023, acting swiftly upon a credible information on wildlife crime, a team of PS Central Crime Station, CID Unit consisting  of SI Shaji Mathew, ASI RajaniKullu HC/264 Sanjay Kujur, HC/733 Sanjit Madhu PC/1859 Chandran PC/1067 N. Thangaraj and PC/1143 K. Rajendran  conducted raid at Maymyo village, Wandoor and seized 20 kgs of venison(deer meat) in packets from the possession of one Sanjay Das, S/o Late Mahadev Das, (46) yrs, Private carpenter, R/o Maymyo Village Wandoor, South Andaman. The seized venison was clandestinely concealed in packets near his residence for selling purpose. The accused person Sanjay Das was detained from the spot for committing offence U/s 50/51 of Wildlife (Protection) Act 1972. Thereafter, seized venison along with detained accused person was brought to PS CCS and handed over to the Range Officer, Manglutan Range on 27/7/23 for further legal action.

Port Blair, July 27: The wooden foot bridge across Kalighat Creek (Nishchintapur village) collapsed on 22nd July 2023 due to heavy flow of water in the creek and taking up this issue with the Chief Secretary of Andaman and Nicobar Administration, the Member of Parliament Shri. Kuldeep Rai Sharma demanded urgent repair of the wooden foot bridge and Construction of RCC Bridge Across Kalighat Creek (Nishchintapur village).

Port Blair, July 27: On 25/07/2023 & 26/05/2023, Huge quantity of HSD Oil (4730 litres) seized in various cases of PS Central Crime Station was disposed off after following all codal formalities and Forward Auction through MSTC Portal. The whole process was carried out under the supervision of experts.
