Port Blair, July 30: On 28th Jul 2023, in a commendable rescue operation, Indian Coast Guard Ship C-145 saved the lives of three fishermen who were struggling in the open sea 30 km away from Diglipur harbour.

The fishermen from Shantinagar village, Diglipur had ventured to sea at 0630 hrs on 28 Jul 23 onboard fishing boat IFB B Gauri (Regn. No. IND-AN-MN-MO-1470). However, both engines of the fishing boat malfunctioned in rough seas and the boat got flooded, eventually sinking at 1630 hrs.

Port Blair, July 30: The Member of Parliament, Shri. Kuldeep Rai Sharma has requested the Government to intervene and pass necessary orders to speed up the construction of Chatham-Bamboo Flat Bridge which will bring a sea change for enabling convenient vehicular traffic movement from a major part of the South Andaman region to Port Blair City and reduce the travel time for the commuters from several villages.

Port Blair, July 30: The 41st Installation Ceremony of the Rotary Club of Port Blair was held at Hotel TSG Emerald View on 29th July 2023. The event was graced by dignitaries viz. Smti Pallavi Sarkar, IAS, Secretary, Social Welfare/ED (ANIIDCO) as the chief guest and R. Kashthuri Bhai, the talented winner of the 17th Asian School under 17 Chess Championship as the guest of honour.

Diglipur, July 30: On 27/07/2023 information regarding presence of foreign poachers near Jal Tikrey, Hathi level of Diglipur was received. Reacting swiftly, a team consisting of SI Abdul Shakil, HC/ Ashok Samaddar and PCs Suresh Kumar, K.K Deb, Sudhir Toppo, Tulsi Rao, Prince Chander Das was formed to conduct Anti-poaching operation. The team conducted an extensive search in and around the Jal Tikrey, Hathi level area. The tireless team noticed poachers’ movement and immediately jumped into action and tried to stop the poachers, but they did not stop and tried to escape into dense jungle. The courageous Police team chased them and apprehended 03 Myanmarese poachers.
