Port Blair, March 1: The Non-Gazetted Govt. Officers’ Association, Andaman and Nicobar Islands conveys shock and deep grief on the sudden demise of Comrade M. Krishnan, current Vice President and former Secretary General of the Confederation of Central Govt. Employees & Workers, New Delhi on today (01.03.2021) at Medical College, Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala. He was also a Member (Staff Side) of Joint Consultative Machinery, Govt. of India. The veteran leader of Central Govt. employees and Pensioners, Com. M. Krishnan died of post Covid complications. He was 67.

Port Blair, March 1: Living On The Edge (LOTE) in association with Directorate of RD & Panchayats organized a Beach cleaning drive at North Bay on 28th Feb 2021.
Around 45 volunteers from LOTE and Department of RD & Panchayats took part in the drive. Students were also involved in Beach cleaning so that they may also understand the necessity of keeping clean environment and becomes a responsible citizen. The shop owners and other people were sensitized on SWACCHTA ABHIYAAN. Nearly 150kg of waste including plastic and other solid wastes were collected for proper disposal.

Port Blair, March 1: Three days training programme on “Organic Production and Post-Harvest Management of Spices” was conducted by ICAR- Central Island Agricultural Research Institute (CIARI) in collaboration with Directorate of Spices and Arecanut Development Board (DASD) at SURABI NGO, Caddlegunj. The programme was inaugurated on 25.02.2021 by Dr. Augustine B. Jerard, Director, ICAR-CIARI in the presence of Rev. Bro. Simolin Ferk, Director, SURABI.

Port Blair, March 1: International Women’s Day will be celebrated by Chinmaya Mission, Inner-wheel Club of Port Blair and PANKH on Sunday 7th March from 9.00 am onwards at Mission Auditorium. The counseling and yoga sessions on healthy life & vegetables cutting, Rangoli and Recipe completion will be held from 9 am onwards. For recipe competition participants has to bring any prepared vegetarian dish. From 11.45 am to 12.30 pm felicitation and prize distribution programme will be held. A special “Yogendra Kumar Awasthy Memorial Award” also will be given to women towards dedicated work and honesty.
