Sri Vijaya Puram, Jan. 6: The Self Help Group (SHG) New Year Mela, held at Marina Park, concluded with remarkable success, drawing enthusiastic participation from the public and SHGs alike. About, 100 SHG members showcased a diverse range of local products, including handicrafts, coconut oil, soaps, various fast foods, and South Indian cuisines, culminating in an impressive total sales figure of Rs.17,43,100.

Sri Vijaya Puram, Jan. 6: The Elder Line 14567 has started functioning at WCD Control Room building, VIP Road, Sri Vijaya Puram and the Helpline is dedicated to resolve issues related to senior citizens, ensuring their well-being and providing support and information. The Helpline has been initiated and funded by the Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment, Government of India, Senior Citizen Division.

Sri Vijaya Puram, Jan. 5: The ITF concluded on a vibrant and jubilant note. Being the festival’s final day, the main venue at ITF Pavilion attracted a massive crowd. The Chief Secretary, A&N Administration, Dr. Chandra Bhushan Kumar, IAS, today visited the ITF and witnessed the colorful cultural programme presented by the artistes of different cultural organizations. He also gave away prizes to the best stall in the Govt. Sector. Accordingly, Sri Vijaya Puram Municipal Council Stall prepared on the theme ‘Waste to Wealth’ bagged the first prize. The Secretary, SVPMC, Shri Azharuddin Zahiruddin Quazi, IAS, received the award. Similarly, the Stall of Nicobar District got the second prize, showcasing tribal life while the third prize was bagged by North & Middle Andaman District, depicting the lime stone cave and other projects of the District. The Department of Environment & Forests got the fourth prize for depicting the model of Chatham Saw Mill and other artifacts made of wood.

Sri Vijaya Puram, Jan 5: The Office of the Sub-Registrar, South Andaman has achieved an all-time high in stamp duty and registration fee collections for December 2024, since the implementation of the online registration system on 22nd October 2019.

In December 2024, the office achieved remarkable growth in revenue collection compared to December 2023. The collections for stamp duty and registration fees are summarized in the table below:

Sri Vijaya Puram, Jan 5: On the instruction of All India Congress Committee (AICC), the Andaman & Nicobar Territorial Congress Committee on the 4th of January 2025 organized 'Jai Bapu, Jai Bhim, Jai Samvidhan Rally,' to protest against the BJP for insulting freedom fighters and undermining the Constitution.

The march was held under the leadership of ANTCC President Shri. Rangalal Halder and ANTCC Campaign Committee Chairman Shri. TSG Bhasker. Congressmen gathered in large numbers to raise their voice against the BJP.
