Port Blair, May 13: The increasing trend of positive cases among the people who are moving to inter- Island is still continuing. Addressing a COVID-19 media briefing held in the conference hall of IP&T today, the Secretary, (IP&T), Shri Sunil Kumar Singh informed that it is a matter of great concern and urged people to minimize their movement. He said that today’s data reveals that 2 flights with 126 passengers arrived and during the Rapid Antigen Test (RAT) conducted on these passengers, 1 person was found positive while the test conducted on 73 persons bound for Middle & North Andaman at Ferrargunj 6 persons were found positive.

Port Blair, May 13: The District Administration is taking all necessary precautions to tackle and control the surge of Covid Cases in South Andaman. As a part of such measures, Shri Suneel Anchipaka, Deputy Commissioner (SA) held a meeting with Muslim religious leaders to discuss course of action during Eid-ul-Fitr, visited Urban Health Centres at Shadipur and Dairyfarm and distributed ration kits in Old Pahargaon containment zone.

With the ANIIDCO wine shops closed, it was expected that some people would try to take advantage of the situation. Hence, close watch is being kept on the known bootleggers and history sheeters. Raids are being conducted on any information regarding illegal sale or possession of illicit liquor.
