Port Blair, April 22: The vessel MV Swaraj Dweep will sail for Chennai on Apr.24 at 0900 hrs. Excess baggage will be loaded from 1400 hrs to 1600 hrs on Apr.23 and embarkation of passengers will commence from 0700 hrs to 0800 hrs on Apr. 24. The embarkation of passengers will be closed one hour before the schedule time. Passengers reporting late will not be allowed to board the vessel.

Indigo Flight 6E 526 Becomes the First Flight to Land Using ILS Approach

Port Blair, April 21: 18th April 2024 at 5:30 AM was the historical moment for civil aviation in the Andaman & Nicobar Islands as the Instrument Landing System (ILS) became operational at Veer Savarkar International Airport Port Blair. Indigo flight 6E 526 was the first flight which landed using ILS approach at 6:29 AM under the command of Captain Jaya Kumar Munuswamy.

Operationalization of ILS has made the runway to a precision approach runway and paved the path for civil aircraft operations at night, low visibility and bad weather conditions with safety. It will reduce flight diversions and enable the extension of aircraft operations time window.
