The industry was christened as ‘Green Life Industry’, which over the past 12 years has been dedicatedly serving the islanders to dispose the waste generated in the islands.

Member of Parliament Requests LG for Early Release of Monthly Salaries

Port Blair, Jan 29: The Member of Parliament, Shri Kuldeep Rai Sharma has requested the Lt. Governor, A&N Islands for early release of monthly salaries of ICDS, CDPOs and Anganwadi workers, which are due for payment since last 6 months. Due to the delay a total of 1477 staff i.e. 32 Mukhya Sevikas and CDPOs, 5 Senior Investigators and 1440 Anganwadi workers and Helpers working under the Social Welfare department in Urban and Rural area of A&N Islands are facing untold financial difficulties.

Port Blair, Jan 29: The Department of Civil Supplies & Consumer Affairs in line with its commitment towards the islanders and to protect the interest of consumers, today launched e-filing facility for lodging the consumer related complaints online at the UT as well as District level. With the availability of better information technology and its commitment towards better governance, the Department has developed digital solutions for five services under the Legal Metrology wing as mentioned below:

Port Blair, Jan 29: The officials of Food Safety Department conducted surprise visit and inspection of slaughter houses, mutton stalls and chicken stalls in and around Port Blair. During the inspections approximately 20 kgs of illegally slaughtered mutton was seized from a mutton vendor of mohanpura mutton market. Case has been registered against the mutton vendor under the provision of Food Safety and Standards Act, 2006, Rules and Regulation made thereunder.

Singh, IAS, Secretary Tourism for increasing the visitors capacity for Sound and Light Show at Cellular Jail from existing number of 200 visitors per day to 550 visitors per day.
